Still Life

Sherry Pollack Walker’s intimate still life paintings are inspired by playing with light, color and intentional thick painterly brush strokes.

Composition is what is most important to her to achieve graphic shapes. She sets up the still lifes and study the lighting, position of objects usually in an overhead view, this process is very deliberate. The color contrasts, the values, the countless ways color interacts as well as the the long shadows are just as important as the objects. She is influenced by Giorgio Morandi- intense focus on compositional balance or imbalance.

During the painting process she is not tethered to factual depiction, Sherry pushs color to create a dynamic and expressive character. Again influenced by the masters David Hockney and Wolf Kahn.
