Sherry Pollack Walker is an artist who splits her time between Newport Beach, California and Rossland, British Columbia.

“Painting for me is an exercise of patience and concentration, it is about looking without assuming and listening without interrupting. It is an invitation to linger, which rewards awareness and self-perception. To practice observation through painting is to resist an urge to generalize. Above all else I am interested in color, shape, light, space, and brush stroke, as problems to be solved through careful study and nuanced adjustments. "

Originally from New York City, Sherry Pollack Walker started her art education in high school studying under Mr. Ron Mehlman. Mr. Mehlman, the director at the Brooklyn Museum art school at the time, recruited Sherry as a volunteer in exchange for classes fees waived. In high school with the other art students she decided to throw cans of paint on the white walls of a freshly painted room. The principal summoned my mother to take control of me…she thought what I did was so cool.

Sherry went on to achieve a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Boston University School of Fine Arts with a minor in Graphic design and photography. After graduation she returned to NYC to begin her career as an art director / graphic designer. She preferred to earn a rock-solid living so postponed the artist’s life.

In NYC she continued her art education at the School of Visual Arts, under Milton Glaser. Sherry rose to the top working as a creative director/ art director for international advertising agencies on high profile clients such as Jaguar Cars, BMW, Lincoln/Mercury, Waterford Crystal, Helene Curtis and Mattel.

Young & Rubicam Advertising brought her west to Southern California as a senior vice president/Creative Director for the Lincoln/Mercury Brand and Sony brand. A high point at Y&R, Lincoln partnered with VANITY FAIR, which resulted in Sherry creating and designing pages for the celebrity HOLLYWOOD issues. This gave Sherry access to lots of parties. With the courage gained after a glass of wine she kissed Sam Shepard at one of these parties.

Another adventure was designing the marketing for the US Tennis Open, the Ford/Lincoln Brand sponsored the Men’s Singles Championship. This gave Sherry an opportunity to argue and hit tennis balls with John McEnroe on center court.

After a successful career as a Creative Director in advertising Sherry returned to her passion for fine arts and roots in drawing and painting. The transition was focused on drawing, drawing, drawing and she attended multiple workshops at the Art Students League in NY.

Sherry Pollack Walker remains in California and currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Pacific Art Foundation of Newport Beach, a Visionaries member of OCMA and a Trustee at Bowers Museum and active participant at the Art Students League of New York.
